“Wii Fit is bad, it basically tells kids they’re fat” -Anonymous Technology Instructor

Shouldn’t they know this fact?

I agree with that, if your overweight or obese then you should know that to begin with and shouldn’t be upset if some handheld device tells you so. However I have read about the WiiFit game telling some people who I wouldn’t classify as obese being fat.

Kids are fat.  Average weight for a child has risen significantly over the last 20 years.  WiiFit at least makes it fun and challenging to workout.  I’m 38, 6’3”, 152lbs.  I’m not overweight, but my strength, balance, and endurance, all need to be improved.  Anyone that worries about something telling children that their fat, is just looking for an excuse to be lazy.

I think the WiiFit is a great idea. Hopefully it will get the obese kids off the couch and moving a little bit. Granted it’s not the same as going outside and playing chase or shooting hoops, but at least it’s some level of exercise that most of these kids never see.
